You have training needs that can’t wait for a typical development cycle. Plus, your learners can’t get much time away from their jobs to complete training. So how can you make something that is short yet useful—and how can you make it fast?

In this workshop, you’ll actually design and develop a microlesson from scratch in just one day. In teams, you’ll work with a hypothetical customer to determine business goals and instructional needs. You’ll learn how to structure a microlesson that is short and to the point without skimping on practical, helpful information. You and your team will evaluate one another’s strengths to assign roles and execute your vision. You’ll walk away amazed at what you can accomplish in a day, and you’ll have new strategies to apply in your own organization when needs are high and deadlines are tight.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to create a laser-focused course outline that meets a specific business need in a short period of time
  • How to distinguish between nice-to-have and must-have elements of a microlearning course
  • How to implement rapid development techniques that can shave time off your production schedule
  • How to use teamwork and resources creatively when time and money are in short supply

Audience:
Intermediate to advanced designers, developers, and project managers

Technology discussed:
Video tools, collaboration platforms, authoring tools

Technology required:
Laptop (Mac or PC) running Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, or with access to Google Docs. An eLearning authoring tool such as Articulate Storyline or Adobe Captivate is helpful but not required.
