503 Course Mapping Your Way to Success!

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Thursday, April 13

Tracks: Management & Strategy

One of the most difficult things to do when designing a course with subject matter experts (SMEs) is to both maintain an understanding of the big picture for the project and prevent the scope creep that SMEs love so dearly. What if you had a course mapping template that aided you when working with SMEs? Best of all, it was universal enough to work for any type of course or content and with any type of authoring tool or task tracking system.

In this session you’ll learn how to use my universal Course Mapping Template. The session will start off with an entertaining anecdote on how the template came into existence. Then you will learn how to use it as a guide to keep SMEs focused and on topic during course kickoff calls. Next you will learn how the template can aid you in designing engaging and interactive content by diving into each part of the template. The flexibility of the template will enable you to manage tracking your course creation tasks within the template or in collaboration with a ticketing system like Azure DevOps. Finally, you will learn how to use the template when updating content in an existing course. Best of all, you will leave this session with your own copy of the Course Mapping Template.

In this session you will learn:

  • How the Course Mapping Template can help you guide SMEs during a course kickoff call
  • Techniques for working with the Course Mapping Template
  • How the Course Mapping Template can aide you in designing engaging and interactive content
  • Techniques for using the Course Mapping Template with a ticketing system
  • How can you use the Course Mapping Template to update an existing course
