609 Marketing L&D to Internal Clients: The Competitive Advantage

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
Thursday, April 13

Tracks: Management & Strategy

Marketing the value and skills in an L&D department is an area where we can all learn and practice. By marketing ourselves, we can deeply embed ourselves in the business and explicitly show how we provide real value to the organization. This is a key skill to stay employed and relevant. As an L&D professional, you have likely seen departments in your organization that can use your skills and services. Have you ever wondered why they aren’t reaching out to you for help? It may be that they don’t know what you do. Maybe they don’t know how you can help them meet their business goals. Maybe they don’t know how to contact you or how to ask for your help. This session empowers you to confidently market your team and skills to your broader organization.

In this session you will learn:

  • How to identify at least one department you want to target
  • How to analyze and list at least one pain point you can help that department solve
  • How to craft an effective and targeted marketing pitch to the identified department as to why they need to use your services
  • How to follow up and help “close the deal” with the department
