Do learners dread attending your classes? Do the words boring, mind-numbing, and dry come to mind when thinking about your topic? Technical concepts are important to many businesses and the employees that they support. But learning those technical concepts can be tedious. This could cause learners to lose interest and “check out.” So, what types of tools and activities can you use to ensure that your learners are engaged and maybe even having some fun at the same time?
During this session you’ll learn how to engage your learners in fun and exciting ways. We’ll start by discussing the importance of having subject matter experts provide accurate information that can be delivered in an exciting and helpful way. You’ll also learn how to use stories and examples to convert technical content into everyday experiences for learners. We’ll explain how to use games and activities to change the tone of the content and bring energy to the learning experience. You’ll also learn how visual content can make a complex, technical topic easier to understand. For example, we’ll discuss how to replace pages of technical content with easier-to-read infographics. You will leave this session with new ways to think about turning your boring technical content into training that your learners are excited about.

Chad Neumann has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years. During this time he has designed and delivered IRA training to financial organizations across the country. His expertise includes Traditional and Roth IRAs, Coverdell education savings accounts, health savings accounts, and SEP and SIMPLE IRA Plans. He leads the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of IRA Institute and IRA Institute Online. He has also been instrumental in leading the development of video training. His retirement learning videos have been honored with a 2021 Apex Award and a Gold at the 2020 MarCom Awards.
